Lost in London

I prefer traveling in cities over doing only a beach vacation or hiking tour. This is especially true with solo-traveling. To go alone to the beach means I worry about my personal stuff when I go for a swim, and hiking in an area I don’t know and to have an accident while doing so is my personal nightmare. That is the reason why I prefer city tours when traveling and for that London is perfect!

Shakshuka

When I went to Israel the first time, I asked friends of mine, what to see and what to do and Mr. Shakshuka in Tel Aviv Jaffa was one of the recommendations. Since I didn’t had any knowledge about the Israelian kitchen I didn’t know this was also the name of a traditionally dish, so when I arrived at that restaurant, I was mildly surprised. Shakshuka in different variations was the main part of the menu and it was not so easy to decide for one. For the Blog I decided to take a basic recipe, which you can vary easily with adding meat, feta, seafood, tofu or whatever you like and try out to add other spices.

Time for Carbonara

Okay, first you should know this: There are some varieties of the recipe out there. One reason for that is that every region has its own slightly different version, like they use another kind of cheese because they have some special regional hot shit cheese in their region or they use a bit more or less cheese, or are more experienced with the mixing etc. Another reason is, that some people do weird stuff because they think they can improve a perfect dish. I got this recipe from an Italian chef, and I promise, there are no variations from my side. Because I wouldn’t dare it to change anything on that holy dish. When you want to change it… you’re totally on your own. I don’t support any variations except when you’re not experienced with the dish and/or broke, than you can use cheap cheese and bacon for it. But remember, one of the reasons that the Italian kitchen is so amazing is that they use the best ingredients. So, when you want to impress your friends, family or secret crush… use the proper ingredients!

The Strawberry Risotto

This recipe I got from my cooking challenge group. We started it when lockdown began in Italy to keep ourselves busy and stay in contact. I changed it a bit, since I didn’t understand it fully, but it turned out fabulous. You get the changed version. It is an easy dish and actually not that sweet as you maybe would think. I am actually thinking about trying it with other fruits as well.

Food talk

Like I promised, my focus on my blog will change now due of recent events. And since this was my main strategy with coping with the situation the focus change to cooking! But before doing so, we have to talk about something probably most people who start to live abroad have to deal first: the wonders of abroad supermarkets!

Activities during Lockdown

To be honest, I wasn’t sure about writing that post at all. That’s what took me so long this week actually. We’re going down my rabbit hole because especially in the first weeks the lockdown situation felt a lot like a depressive phase I had some years ago. And trying to find activities while staying home is the same everywhere, right? But I am much better now and since lockdown is different here instead of home I decided to write about my coping strategies here in Bologna. And don’t worry, I only write about the good stuff. And you get links to some of my Instagrams Posts! (The featured image above is actually from a travel to Prague, but I found it quite fitting to the secret main topic of that posting.)

To feel and to learn.

Feelings are important to decide quickly. But they’re based on all kind of stuff and sometimes they can trick you to do something which is actually not good for you. Or people around you. Especially when you experience something new, it’s important to learn what your feelings are telling you and most importantly why they do so. When you know that you can make a better decision or calm down a bit. In the following text I connect several smaller stories and talk about the feeling which is right now everywhere: fear. But also why I am feeling fine.
